A reboot of the film series was later announced in 2018, and is scheduled for release on August 11, 2023. It was a box-office bomb, grossing $245 million against a $135 million budget, resulting in a planned third film being scrapped. It is the sixth theatrical Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, the second and final film in the reboot series, and a sequel to 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
